Blessed (Vanlo)

They have literally been just blessed by the goddess Luna with the ability to shift for a short time to humans. Their animal form is their main look but either during the full moon or if they are wearing the Luna amulet they can revert back to a two-legged form for the time. It allows them in and around humans for short interactions that otherwise might of been hard. Though ALL creatures in Orealis Realm have the ability to talk some prefer keeping that side hidden, since it can cause issues with those who have yet to interact with them.

The first Blessed to earn this very precious gift was called Nightmare. He was a black bear that was being hunted and chased by poachers many moons ago. Taking refuge in some caves he hid within the shadows behind some rocks praying to the Goddess that he wasn't found. Unfortunately, he was found just not by the ones he thought. No Nightmare was located by the Goddess Luna herself. Appearing a bright, luminous light the Goddess with snow white hair and eyes smiled at the panther. Speaking telepathically with him to assure him she meant no harm but wanted to reward him. For Luna had been watching Nightmare all his life and the panther was never a selfish or uncaring creature to anyone he meet, no matter if they didn't return the kindness.

So seeing the poor thing being hunted and chased made her very upset and concerned, since black bears like himself were becoming rare. Hunted and killed nearly to extinction she wished to do whatever was necessary in order to see them survive. Of course Nightmare was both in awe of the Goddess as well as relieved that she would do such a kindness for him and those left. Watching as a bright purple glow was suddenly coming from her hand just before she laid it gently on the panther's head. Almost instantly Nightmare could feel his body reacting to the touch, changing and reforming to incorporate his new form that wished to be seen.

Within a few minutes Nightmare was standing before the goddess in his naked human form, or course embarrassment wasn't there but his gratitude was written all over his face. The smile that appeared was all Luna needed to see and was enough to know she had done a great thing. Explaining to Nightmare that with his race being so few and near extinction he would be given an amulet to wear that allowed the change. All he need do is concentrate and it would react though it was never to be taken off or the gift would be gone. Of course he asked about it being removed by accident or in a fight and she assured him that wouldn't happen. For the amulet could ONLY be removed by his hands.

So Nightmare was the first to receive this special and life changing gift from the Goddess Luna. But he certainly wasn't the only one. Other species close to extinction were blessed as well with the amulet, others who while endanger weren't that close to be extinct had the gift to shift ONLY at the full moon. And so it was that the Blessed would come to be given second chances.

Characteristics - The blessed don't really look that much different from basic animals except for one major detail easily noticed about this species. Their eyes both in human and animal are purple, which has to do with the Goddess's gift. Which when it first was given came in the form of a bright purple glow about her hands. Their eyes are the only indication that they are more than what they truly seem, otherwise size, weight, height, senses all remain like their respective animal they belong too. So in either form the Blessed always keep their animal senses, abilities just at a lesser degree to not make it too obvious their not completely human.

Height & Weight: Varies with each species but DOESN'T go above that animals average.
Coat Colors: Basicnatural colors for that species but NO fantasy colors
Eye Color: All have purple eyes no matter what form that NEVER changes.
Environment: Prefer dense, rich forest and meadows as well as coastal areas. As Blessed prefer their animal side leaving their human for when they are in danger or threatened.
